What is a Lean Green Belt Certification?
The Green Belt level of Certification is for organizations requiring individuals with the knowledge and expertise to lead organizations through Lean Value Stream Transformations.
The employer benefits of this program are that processes become more efficient, streamlined, and cost effective. Individuals earn a valuable credential to enrich their contribution in an organization and gain credibility with not only the senior leaders, but also with their peers and subordinates. A Green Belt Certification provides these individuals with both the knowledge and demonstrated capabilities to assume greater responsibility to lead business process improvement initiatives and promote effective cultural change.
Each Green Belt must demonstrate competencies in the following to achieve their Green Belt certification:
- A complete Value Stream Map,
- A Value Stream Charter document to define scope of work and expectation
- A Current State Map
- A Future State Map,
- An Implementation Plan
- Kaizen Charters for each Kaizen as per the plan
- Completed Kaizens with documented results
- Ability to liaise with senior leadership team
- Ability to influence staff at all levels

Phase 1: Lean Theory / Concepts Training & Education
- Introduction to Lean
- Enterprise Value Stream Mapping
- Lean Tools Training
- 5S Workplace Organization
- Mistake Proofing
- Achieving Flow
- Kaizen Events
- Kanban Pull
Phase 2: Lean Theory / Concepts Practical Application & Certification
Participants will select a Value Stream Project within their organization and demonstrate the following competencies:
- A Value Stream Charter document
- A Value Stream Map
- a Current State Map,
- a Future State Map,
- an Implementation Plan
- Kaizen Charters for each Kaizen as per the plan
- Completed Kaizens with documented results
