Erika Schom, Project Management

Ms. Schom is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and MBA with over 18 years of experience in Senior Level Lean Project and Program Management.

Ms. Schom’s Project Management methods adhere to the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) as well as applying LEAN project management principles that make the organizations she works with more efficient both operationally and fiscally. Ms. Schom has excellent problem solving and analytical skills. She has demonstrated throughout her career a strong ability to direct projects to a successful completion; on time and within budget.  She is a skilled people manager and effective communicator able to coordinate human, technical, client and vendor resources while maintaining project priorities and deadlines, assessing project risks and implementing mitigating actions. She is able to organize the skills of diverse people responsible for requirements gathering, design, development, quality assurance, testing, training, and deployment of various systems, solutions and platforms. She has extensive experience bringing projects from initiation to implementation to close out.

Ms. Schom has worked on Senior Level projects over many industries including Private Sector, Public Sector and a range of both not for profit and associations.

Ms. Schom also has strong operational background managing three consulting firms in her career. She utilized her people management and communication skills to manage a diverse teams, she was responsible for managing the resources assigning them to projects, managing utilization and matching career objectives and skills to projects. She worked closely with senior management to ensure business plans and strategies where taken into consideration. During her tenure she led two acquisitions involving over 100 plus people; she was instrumental in integrating the two teams together through resourcing mixed project teams, pairing resources together for a buddy system, mentoring program and working to understand the new resources skill sets and talent.

Ms. Schom has gained a reputation of being able to identify talented, skilled resources; helping them to grow through training, projects and mentorship.

Her roles over the years have ranged from owner of a 70 person Consulting firm, Chief Operating Officer for an Ottawa Technology practice within a large International Consulting firm, Strategic Advisor, Program Manager, Project Manager, Project Executive, Operations Manager, Customer Support Manager, Trainer, Quality Assurance Manager, Web Developer, Restaurant Manager, to real-estate and Property Manager. Her experiences span many industries providing real world insight and LEAN project management solutions to projects and organizational challenges.
